The women's Rab Electron Pro Jacket is a fantastic mid weight down jacket. Thicker than the Microlight, but not quite as thick as the Valiance, the Electron is ideal for cold, crisp winter days. The outer is made using Pertex Quantum Pro which benefits from being ripstop and is also water resistant. Please note, the Electron is not waterproof. It will take a quick shower, or light drizzle, but anything more than that then you will need a waterproof jacket, or shell. Don't forget to pack one if you are off to the hills, because as we all know, weather can change.
Although designed for mountaineering, or climbing, the Electron is equally at home on cold weekend walks, or on the touchline watching your loved ones play sport. The jacket it seriously warm thanks to it's 170g 800 fill power down filling. This down is also treated, so it's hydrophobic, which means that even if the down gets soaked, it will still maintain it's loft.
The jacket uses YKK flat vison water resistance zips on its front and on its hand warmer pockets. It's hood is peaked and fully adjustable and is helmet compatible.
In terms of fit, it really comes down to whether you like to layer up because you feel the cold, or like me you run warm, in which case you can go for a more snug fit. The jacket comes down nice a long at the back to to ensure your vitals stay warm.
