The really nice thing about the women's Nanda Devi Jacket from Mountain Equipment, is it not only ticks all of the boxes you would require in a technical waterproof, but it also looks really good on too. The cut is superb, and it looks really neat and tidy.
Made using a Gore-Tex 2 layer construction with 75 denier face fabric, the Nanda Devi is 100% waterproof and offers superb breathability too. The front zip can be done up to just under the nose and the large chin guard offers excellent protection from the cold and wet. Add to this a helmet compatible, fully adjustable peaked hood and you'll hardly know it's raining.
The Nandi also benefits from having an alpine fit which means pre shaped sleeves that won't ride up when you stretch up, giving you full freedom of movement when you require it.
When the going gets tough and you are working hard, there are handy pit zips under each arm that can be opened to let the air breeze through and cool you down without getting you wet.
