The women's Alta III Jacket is designed for challenging, harsh conditions. It has reinforced panels to aid wear and tear, especially in areas where it's most likely IE on the shoulders and arms due to rucksack wear and rubbing.
The Alta III is 100% waterproof thanks to Paramo's clever Nikwax, Anology fabric. This fabric is not only waterproof, but also incredibly breathable and directional too, meaning it actively gets rid of the moisture caused by body heat when the going gets tough. A standard Gore-Tex jacket can get rid of 20% moisture where as Nikwax Anology gets rid of 80%. That's quite a difference.
The Alta has plenty of ventilation too, ensuring you can stay cool whilst staying dry. You have zipped ventilation on the underarms that encourages airflow, but not let the rain in at the same time. The hood has a wire peak and is fully adjustable from three positions - one on the top and two on the sides.
All you have to do to maintain the life, breathability and waterproofing of this excellent jacket is to wash it periodically in Nikwax Tech wash and TX Direct. Apart from that, the jacket looks after itself and because it doesn't rely on a membrane to stay waterproof it means that the jacket has no membrane to fail.
