Montane Mens Alpine Trek Pants, Lightweight stretch softshell pants for versatility and comfort
There’s no doubt it’s been a strange year. Looking back on 2020 you can easily find yourself reflecting upon the devastating affect of a global pandemic. For probably the vast majority of us it’s a year to file under “bin”, with focus firmly on the future.
However, many of us acknowledge that one of the most unexpected outcomes of the year has been our appreciation of the “simple things in life”. This can include being around the people close to us, being in good health, or enjoying activities that don’t involve electronics or dashing from one commitment to another.
Particularly during lockdown, many of us have become reacquainted with basic forms of exercise and a love of the outdoors. Desperate to get out of houses, families have found and enjoyed walks that they didn’t know existed! Brits have discovered that they can enjoy a walk on their own, maybe while listening to podcasts or music. Children and teens have found that there are other things to do outside of virtual reality and social media.
At BCH Camping we have noticed that alongside our loyal, regular customers, a new customer base of walkers has emerged who have a newfound enjoyment of our incredible landscapes and countryside on local walks or longer hikes. It’s been a pleasure to serve and offer guidance to customers who are new to buying outdoor clothing and footwear, along with backpack essentials.
We’ve also noticed that walkers are becoming increasingly adventurous, with many keen to take on more challenging hikes.
This is encouraging. It’s great to think of people challenging themselves while enjoying dales, hills, woodland and mountains. But, as winter approaches, there will be more of a need than ever to ensure that hikers are prepared for taking on more difficult conditions. With this in mind, we’re featuring one of our most popular trek pants in this blog, the Montane Men’s Alpine Trek Pants.
There are many items within our clothing range that tick the boxes for being hike-ready, but these pants are one of the most versatile. They were designed for fast mountain walking and backpacking all year round, and on that they certainly deliver.
The Alpine Trek Pants are available in black, in sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL.
The comfort and versatility of these trek pants make them an ideal choice for active hiking during winter. In strong winds they will offer enough protection, although in extreme winter conditions you would be wise to have a pair of waterproof trousers on standby in your rucksack.
If you find yourself walking in unseasonably warm conditions, the Alpine Trek Pants will stay cool and comfortable, remaining so even in temperatures in the 20s.
The Montane Plume Mountain Cap is a warm and lightweight down hat filled with 600FP (fill power) down, with ear flaps and an adjustable chin strap.

Features of the Montane Men’s Alpine Trek Pants
Weather resistant
The Montane Alpine Trek Pants are made from Granite Stretch Lite which is a lightweight nylon stretch fabric with a denier gradient structure that provides dual abrasion and wind resistance. The durable water repellency sheds light rain.
Stretch fabric
The fabric moves and stretches when you do, offering the versatility and comfort of free movement on ascents and descents.
Design features
- The CORDURA® rip-stop instep provides enhanced abrasion resistance
- Articulated knees and an active cut make high steps easier
- Pre-elasticated waist with press stud and button fastening
- Additional comfort provided by the fine brushed microfleece inner rear waistband
- Concealed mesh thigh pocket with YKK zip
